Currently lives and works in Seoul, Republic of Korea. 

Hokma Gim is a painter based in Seoul, South Korea.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Korean Painting from Ewha Womans University and earned her master’s degree from its Graduate School. The unique intricacies of our natural world inspire her  interpretation of human relationships and serves as a blueprint for her  artistic practice, especially depicting  the colors and movements of trees. She build a visual language by overlapping images derived from her tree shape study drawings and explorations of colors and temporalities. Recently, She is focusing on the variations of form that arise from long-term relationships with individual trees and on the sustainability of that sensorial register. She has held solo exhibition 《Eternal Spring, Onsaemiro: Naturally, as it has always been》 at KCS and  《A Very Personal Tale, Tree Family》 at Spaceuooyoung. She participated in numerous group exhibitions, including 《Be Candid, Hands on Each other》 at ONSU GONG-GAN,  《Music’s Whispered ‘Hide-and-Seek’》 at KT&G Sangsang Madang (Chuncheon) and 《Boundless》 at Gallery Playlist (Busan).
